| "Where it is not possible for the biological mother to breastfeed, the first alternative, if available, should be the use of human breast milk from other sources. Human milk banks should be made available in appropriate situations."

Advocacy Project
| IBMP developed the Advocacy Project as a platform to speak up and speak out about the urgent need for donor milk around the world. We advocate so that every infant in the world will have access to donor human milk as a first choice when mom's own milk is not available. |
 |
We advocate by:
- Encouraging policy makers, governments and international organizations to embrace and support milk banking.
- Engaging mothers in the US to take action to help infants in need by donating milk.
- Inviting debate and discussion about milk banking.
- Supporting the efforts of milk banks around the world through research, funding, and media.
The Advocacy Project was inspired by Paula Donovan, co-founder of Aids-freeworld.org.
